Given the outstanding success of a similar event held by Valley Bees - and subsequent overcrowding - bookings will be limited.
Location: Barung Landsborough Nursery, 65 Amigh Rd. Landsborough
Time: 8.30am- 3pm Saturday 16 November 2013
Cost: $15 per person
Rob Raabe, our local bee rescue expert and a number of his colleagues will be on hand to answer your questions as well as to demonstrate hive and log splits. There will be active hives to have a look at and I am also expecting that there will be hives and empty boxes for sale well as copies of John Klumpp's Australian Stingless bees: A Guide to Sugar Bag Beekeeping for sale. Barung's Nursery is also planning to have a display of local plants.
The nursery location is a little isolated but it does provide shelter in the event of rain or other adverse (at least for events management) weather conditions. Being isolated, there are no shops nearby so I am asking everyone attending to bring a plate of food to share for lunch. There will be a an attendance fee of $15 per person - payable at the entrance. Tea, coffee and morning and tea will be provided.
If anyone making a booking has a hive that they would like to bring along to be split, please let me know by return email. Also, if you have ideas about other dispalys for the day or speakers, please let me know by email.
You will recall that some us, together with Barung members, built a native solitary bee habitat wall at the Nursery in June and this will be an excellent opportunity to see if we have attracted any tenants.
I will be in touch with everyone who has registered in the week before the workshop to confirm arrangements and to advise any changes if needed.
