Range Bees September and October Meeting Information

  • Saturday, September 08, 2012
  • 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Starting and Finishing back at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve

The September meeting will be a Botanical Information Field Workshop which is a practical site by site guide to understanding local vegetation and geology.  This will be a most of day event and will start at 8.30am Saturday 8 September at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve and finish around 3.30 back at MCSR.  The day will be led by one of our members Ashley Sewell who has an amazing knowledge of the local vegetation and regularly conducts these workshops.  A minimum of 10 participants is required and there is a limit of 20.  If there is more interest, another workshop will be organised.  Carpooling for this event is proposed.

Places will be allocated on a first in, first allocation basis so before letting me know you want to participate, please check you are free on that day before you register.  Maleny Real Food Festival is on that weekend but you can do this fantastic tour on Saturday and go to the food festival on Sunday. Please let me know by email if you want to register.
A split of a native bee hive is the planned feature for the October meeting - location tba and the time will probably be morning rather than 2pm to suit the hive owner and more importantly, the bees.
For November, we are looking at a a honey hive extraction and that will probably be a morning as that suits the bees.

PS I am still looking for at least one more volunteer for the executive group - preferably with computing and web skills or a good knowledge of native bees or good organising skills.
