Mon 31 October
Join us for a morning of hand-weeding Madeira Vine & Cats Claw Creeper on the Mary River property of long-time conservationists Sally & Ian Mackay. Since purchase of the land for conservation two years ago, cattle have been removed, trees planted, regrowth enabled to prosper and flowering cat's claw reduced. Madeira vine arrived following floods and both it and cat's claw need ongoing work. Recent research on threatened Mary River Turtles at the site resulted in 11 being caught, measured and released in just one morning.
Morning tea provided.
Car pool at the back of the IGA carpark in Maleny at 8am or travel independently (call 5429 6622 for directions) for a 9am start.
All tools will be provided. Bring gloves, water, boots, sunscreen and insect repellent. Long-sleeved shirt, trousers and hat are essential.
